Below are a couple of videos with brief descriptions of part of my robot's creative process, as well as a more detailed TEDx Talk.
CloudPainter is an artificially creative painting robot project. It is the sixth collaborative robotic art system that I have made in the past twelve years. My first machine drew simple lines with a paint brush, connect-the-dots. My most recent robots use a custom 3D printed paint head, two robotics arms, deep learning, artificial intelligence, and computational creativity to make an increasing amount of independent aesthetic decisions.
This site describes how I am exploring my own artistic creativity by attempting to capture as much of it as possible in the algorithms that run my robots. Furthermore, it is a showcase of how creative the robots have become, as well as a demonstration of exactly where they are failing at artistic autonomy - the threshold between human and computational creativity.
